I appeared on the Beyond the Surface podcast with my friend, Sam Sellers. Sam is a Queer Registered Therapist, living and working in the Gundungarra Land (Goulburn, NSW, Australia.) She provides trauma-informed support for survivors of religious trauma.

The conversation delves into faith, symbolism, and the power of personal interpretation, inviting listeners to reflect on their own evolving spiritual paths. During the conversation, I confessed that I'm a slow learner and that my deconstruction was a gradual process. 

Near the end, I said that one should decide whether they are seeking clarity or comfort before they deconstruct their religious beliefs. For me and many others, deconstruction provided clarity and transformation, helping us to lead more open-hearted and open-minded lives. But, it was NOT always comfortable.

As a religious trauma therapist, Sam gets it. Some people are surprised to learn that one-third of us have experienced religious trauma. But, in trauma circles, many people are actually surprised that the figure is so low. One of my good friends confessed "I thought that it was 100%."
