I had a great conversation with my friends, J.D. Forehand, Karl Forehand, and Stuart Delony on The Unlearning Curve podcast. We talked about Christian supremacy, which can be just as toxic as any other type of "supremacy."

My actual life is ephemeral, finite and fleeting. That’s the point. That’s why it’s meaningful, precious and worthwhile.

Recently, I wrote about the dubious existence of souls. In the article, I wondered why some people assume that near-death experiences (NDEs) prove that there is an afterlife.

Eventually, I will fall asleep for the last time. It's OK if I do NOT wake up one day. I am grateful for the 25,000-odd days (and some of them were very odd!) that I DID wake up.

Many people are concerned about existential questions. Maybe the metacrisis and the threats of climate change, global pandemics and nuclear wars are upsetting people. (No wonder. Me, too.)

Meaningful spiritual practice is embodied. A Zen teacher told me that the biggest obstacle to Zen practice is “time travel.” So, are we here now, or are we distracted by past regrets or future fears?

There is NOT necessarily anything woo-woo about transcendence.

Do we create our gods, or do our gods create us? In The Way, I write that most traditions recognize that there are two (not three) aspects of God. And these aspects correspond to the immanent and the transcendent.

There are many advantages to faith deconstruction. For those who can navigate the process, many people who leave church can find connection, joy, meaning and service outside of church.

Is God or the Universe intentional? Like a song or a sunset, we can be awed by relational, but impersonal, experiences that connect us to the Whole.

What if our spirituality is like our connection to music or nature?

Complex issues are rarely black-and-white. Further, many seemingly straightforward issues are actually complex issues, riddled with ambiguities, exceptions and paradoxes.

What if other traditions contain some “Truth with a capital T?” What if they all describe an Ultimate Reality that is not necessarily intentional or personal or supernatural?

What if natural intelligence has reached the end of its evolution, while artificial intelligence has only reached the beginning of its evolution?

In Conclave, author Robert Harris writes, "...The one sin I have come to fear more than any other is certainty. Certainty is the great enemy of unity. Certainty is the deadly enemy of tolerance."

In my writing, I suggest that the brain might be more of a receiver than a transmitter. This may explain phenomena like extra-sensory perception, near-death experiences, out-of-body experiences, and past life recollections more simply than alternative explanations.
